A: Psychiatrists have significant practice costs that have to be met from fees charged. These include membership of the General Medical Council and other regulatory bodies. You may be aware the the GMC has introduced revalidation which has added to our costs. In addition, there are very substantial medical indemnity costs. These alone run into thousands of pounds per year. There are also secretarial and room charges to be paid.
A: There can be value in a one-off consultation, especially if it is a question of choice of medication or simply for a second opinion. Realistically, any psychotherapy is going to need a minimum of six sessions.
Sometimes it is helpful to think of the overall benefits good health will bring.
Q: What are the cancellation arrangements?
A: If you want to cancel your appointment you must give 48 hours notice, otherwise you will be charged.

A: Payment on the day of consultation is required. Credit and debit cards can be used. If you have health insurance we can bill directly but you must speak to them prior to the appointment, to ensure that they will cover the appointment and to get an authorisation number.
